My Art Project With My Partner.......

This is my art project with my partner Naomi. We have done a project about Gender Inequality which is when another gender is higher than the other. In other ways of saying it, one gender gets treated better than the other gender which is highly unfair.

Reflection of 2018..... 2019 HERE I COME!

List all the things you have been involved with this year:
Fiafia
TC Tech
Cross Country
Athletics
Kiwisport
Team 5 performance
Rainbows end trip

Choose 2 which you thoroughly enjoyed, explain why - I loved Rainbows End because we got to go on so much rides and it was so much fun. I also loved athletics because we got to do so many activities while we were competing each other.

Choose 2 that you didn’t enjoy as much, explain why - I didn’t really enjoy cross country because we did to much running and the worst part was we had to do 2 laps around the pt england reserve. I couldn’t think of anything else I didn’t like because 2018 was really fun.

4. Special mention/thanks?  Do  you have specific people or groups you’d like to acknowledge from your time in Pt England - I would like to mention five beautiful teachers that taught me how to be smart. My thanks is to Mrs Tele’a, Mrs Ilaoa, Miss Sio, Mrs Salu and Miss Tuia because they’ve taught so much throughout this year and my learning has been expanding a lot.

5. 2019: What are you looking forward to next year?   What are you anxious about?  What will you do to help you get through difficult times in the class, playground, with your peers - What i’m looking forward next year is being a year 8 and being a leader to the whole school. What i’m anxious about is  that if I get picked for prefect I won’t be good enough to take care of people. What I will do to help myself is either talk to an adult or try to figure it out myself.

6. Sign off: What’s a neat sentence or phrase you’d like to sign off with?  One of our Team 5 sayings?  Mr Burt Korero -  Well this is my reflection about 2018, I’m so excited for next year and I can’t wait to be a year eight. One of my favourite sayings that i’ve heard was from Mrs Salu, the saying was ‘Kindness given, Kindness you may receive’.

The Wonder Tree?

I found an unordinary tree that was all alone. I stared at it for a while and noticed something about it. All of its leaves were falling on the ground, like it was crying. I walked up to it and held one of its branches. I felt cold and sad inside so I swung my arm away from the branch.

‘That was weird?’ I felt normal again. As I was just about to leave I had an unusual feeling inside of me. I felt nauseous, sick, I couldn’t see properly. I fell to the ground and started to see things from the past. I saw the tree but something felt different about me, I looked around and saw many other trees.

This big machine with axes connected to it charged for all the trees. The machine chopped every single tree that was around me except for the one tree. I woke up looking at this black, tall figure. My eyesight was blurry so I couldn’t see what the figure actually looked like, at that moment something happened…..

Task Description -
Well this is my story about a tree. I only had to do this for two days so I wasn't able to finish it all but I might continue it later in the future. I hope you've enjoyed this writing about my mysterious tree.

Writing - Colour Code

Are my friends good to me? Am I a good friend? Well no need to ask those questions anymore because in the following paragraphs that i’ve written is to explain to you what a good friend means and does.

One of my good friends are trustworthy. Trustworthy friends listen to your story’s and makes sure not to tell anyone. For example if you tell someone a secret but they tell others then thats not a good friend so make sure you trust the person before telling them.

Encouraging! Now what does that mean? Well encouraging means someone who pushes and supports you when you really need the encouragement. People who encourage you are good friends, they make sure that you have at least someone you can rely on to support you.

If you have a friend who puts you before others…. That’s a good friend. When someone puts you before anything, is something really wise to do. E.G If people put you before anything that means they care for you more than anything (maybe not family or god).

Ok, now this idea is simple. Being helpful!. Now i’m sure everyone whos reading this has someone in their life who is very helpful. How are they helpful? Glad you asked! Helpful people does stuff for you like cleaning up after you (but sometimes it’s creepy when they do that) but anyways. Being helpful is good for a friend because sometimes they can’t do things them self.

My last idea is giving things to a friend when they don’t have it. This might seem really dumb but your sharing love to them. When you share love I guarantee you’ll get it back, maybe not from them but from someone that GOD SENT!!! (ok maybe that was just a little joke but you get what I mean).

Well that’s it. This writing is just simply trying to help you or someone to be a good…. no great…. wait AMAZING actually just a friend that they can forgive and remember. If your wondering why it’s good to be a good friend, it’s because some people out there are having problems in their life and the last thing that they need is someone ruining it even more, so share the love to others and you’ll get the love back.

Task Description -
Today we had to get our writing and highlight what was our statement, explanation and example. Statement = Yellow, Explanation = Green and Example = Blue.

Michelangelo & Sistine Chapel

Research about Michelangelo and the Sistine Chapel. The Sistine Chapel is in the capital of Italy which is Rome. 5 million people visit and the building was 60 feet tall. It took Michelangelo years to finish the painting but he finally finished and got paid only 78 thousand dollars (which is a rip-off if I was him).

Te Wa Toi, Learning About Lady Pink

We are researching about Lady Pink with Mrs Ilaoa.

What & Why I Love Immersion Assemblies?

Te Wa Toi is a meaning of ‘Time For Art’. This term we are going to be learning about what artists think and feel about their art. Immersion assembly was different this term, usually Team 1 - 4 makes videos but instead they showed us on what they think of art?

Being eager to learn more, today immersion assembly really touched me, what I mean is that every single team expressed on how they see art. Every person has different thoughts and words about what art means? For example, Ms King thought that some paintings shown in some museums were weird. In her mind I think that she has a different meaning of what art could truly mean!

Why I love Immersion assemblies is because it’s hilarious, it’s satisfying and heaps of other reasons why but I can’t think of any. I love the fact that the teachers from each team shows and explains on what their team is going to be doing. What I like about Immersion assemblies, they explain what their learning in a way that gets us children hooked to listen more about.

Team 3…. Well I can’t even describe it because it was really crazy. Mrs Carruthers, Mrs Scanlan & Mr Moran were dressed into a white paint suit. At first I thought that they looked like the Ghost-busters, Ms King and Ms Eadie had pallets of paint with some paint brushes in their hands. Music played and the teachers started dancing while Ms Eadie and Ms King put some paint on Mrs Scanlan, Mrs Carruthers & Mr Moran rolled all over the big, white paper that was on the stage floor. The funniest part that I loved was when they showed us their art and started doing an auction and most of the kids put their hand up and it was SOLD!

Team 4 had a paint-off but instead all the teachers (except for Ms Parrant), painted. Ms Parrant had picked a volunteer which was Mr Moran, and he had to do poses for the teachers to paint. Once they were finished they showed their art and explained what their inspiration was. My favourite was Mrs Sio or Mr Wiseman because Mrs Sio looked just like Mr Moran and Mr Wiseman was a black hole to describe his mind.

4 reasons on why I love Immersion assemblies is because teachers don’t just explain what their doing but they also make videos or show kids what their doing, other reason is that it makes you laugh and thinking that you want to learn more about it. 3rd reasons sometimes teachers (including the principal), are dressed up into hilarious clothing that looks ridiculous on them. My last reason that I can think of is teachers do weird dances and make fun of themself but they don’t care what we think because their happy that they make us laugh.

Task Description -
We had Immersion assembly which was the best, we had to write about what & why we love immersion assemblies.

LOUD T-SHIRT DAY TOMORROW!

Image result for loud t shirt dayLoud t-shirt day, what does that mean? If it's loud t-shirt day you can donate money to the poor deaf children out there. If you donate money they go to the deaf children so it'll help them to listen and speak. That's why its called a loud t-shirt day, so make sure to help all around the world even if it's someone you don't know because if you show kindness, kindness you shall receive. Don't forget to wear a bright t-shirt this month to help the children who can't hear or speak!

Our Wonderful Performances

My group and I have been learning a Niuean dance for the past few weeks to show the whole of Team 5 & 3. We did a Niuean dance because we thought that we should do something cultural for the Team.

Before we performed we obviously practiced and practiced until we thought that we’ve accomplished it. Our practices wasn’t easy at first but once we got into it, we knew all the moves off by heart. I would say that we got a 8/9 when we were practicing only because some parts we were kind of mucking around.

Our performance went better than I expected, meaning that it went way better than I thought it was gonna go. Everyone cheered and applauded as we danced to the music. I don’t know what rate that we got but I would give it a 10 because we smiled and enjoyed dancing with each other.

If I were to judge myself, I would say that I did pretty well and my group also did pretty good. The whole class was amazing today and I can’t wait until next time we do something similar. Every single one of us from Team 5 did a magnificent job and i’m sure that everyone had fun.

Task Description -
After our performance that we have been practicing for the past few weeks, we had to write about what happened. Just some things were that my group wore lava lava's, flower lei's, A's (which is like a flower crown) and we had our hair out.

Cross Country Day!

WALT: Writing for the audience of my peers and whanau

Body aching so much, don’t think I could heal from it….. CROSS COUNTRY IS OVER YAY!

Last week we had Cross Country and everyone was wearing different colours to support their house and people. Some wore costumes, ribbons, wigs, lei’s and other wacky things. Before we started everyone was nervous, everyone was shaking and when  Mr Burt said “On your marks, Get set, GO!” we were off.

When we were running it was muddy, it was tiring and we were all breathless. All girls were huffing and puffing to the end of the course but each one of us tried our best and kept going until we finished the entire race. I finished the race, calves stiff as stone, body aching so much and throat drying up in the hot sun, breathing heavily as I grab a water from the teachers and sit down to catch my breath.

I came in the top 15’s and i’m proud of myself, my goal wasn’t to come in the top 10’s or 5’s, but my goal was to finish the whole course by trying my best! My favourite part about cross country was people encouraging others who were struggling to run, they kept persuading them to keep going because they knew that they could make it to the end.

Task Description -
This week for writing we had to write about Cross Country but before we started that we had to brain storm. What we had to do was name things that happened in cross country and put them into groups, we had to use those words we came up with and use them to help us write about cross country.

Health & PE

My Mums Childhood Poem!

As I think about my childhood and how it use to be, with only one good memory of my siblings and me, Building forts in the forest with pretend guns and grenades, playing war games till dark those were my happy days, I dreaded all those times I had to say goodbye to them, and head back to the slums that I was living in, Crying almost every night hoping God would hear my preys, “Please lord can you hear me, I want to get away from here!” Unfortunately he didn’t hear me and I was all alone again, but still hoping that one my mum would save me from this pain, one day I will have children and maybe married too, he’ll help me raise them better then what I went through, but until that day comes this is how i’ll live my life, and look forward to a bright future minus the stress and strife.

Task Description -
The homework that we had to do was to ask an adult that is way older than you and ask them about their childhood, you collect the information that they gave you and put it together to try and make a poem. This poem was made by my mum when she was about 20 or younger. Her childhood wasn't that great but she put that in the past so please enjoy this poem that my mum made!

Te Wiki O Te Reo Maori!

Image result for tikiKia Ora! It's Maori language week. Today in assembly the Kapa Haka group sang for us and the boys did a Haka. They sang beautifully and softly, there was some harmony that you could hear and some melody's that you could hear. A new saying that Team 5 learnt was 'He Aroha Whakato, He Aroha Puta Mai' meaning 'If kindness is sown, then kindness you shall receive'. Why did we learn this saying? We learnt this saying so it can remind us to show kindness around the world and one day you will get it back, maybe not from the same person but from another..... maybe even God!

Rhyming Poems

Task Description -
This week my class had been learning about poems and how to make the sentences go with the rhythm and the beat. Poems may seem easy but really it can be difficult for some people, for me it's kind of easy because I have a clear mind sometimes and I make a lot of poems at home.

Our Amazing World? I guess.....

Task Description -
On Tuesday's in maths class, we have Cyber Smart. This week we had to go on Google Earth and find out some things about our planet but simple things not big. We had to pick some things E.G a tower, and search it up on google earth. The places that I picked are pretty famous. Enjoy my learning from Cyber Smart!

Paying It Forward?

I think it’s good to pay it forward because it’s way to show an act of kindness around the world or the community. What does paying it forward mean? It’s a meaning of someone doing something nice for you and then that person does the same thing to other people and it carries on.

Image result for act of kindnessPaying it forward is a good thing for everyone because when you do something little, it could turn into something big. It’s just like the saying “Little can be huge”. If we all can do one thing at a time, we can change the world bit by bit.

I hope that you will take this advice and use it one day for someone in your family, community and world. Please make this world into a better place so we can all live and grow up to be happy and safe.

Tongan Dance For Tongan Language Week!

Today is Friday and we had our school assembly. This week is Tongan language week if you didn't know that, the Tongan group performed for our whole school and there were amazing.

Some people kind of mucked up but they all still kept smiling and kept going with the moves. Firstly some Tongan girls and boys said speeches in Tongan and they started playing a song and the girls started dancing. Their dancing was beautiful, their hand movements was smooth and gentle.

After the girls had finished their dance, the boys got on the stage and did their performance. Tevita was the leader for the Tongan boys and he lead the boys as Faioso and Kosini did the drums.

The Tongan groups performance was amazing and i'm hoping to see more next year. Hear is some photos from the assembly!

Strike Day!

Why do people have strike day?  People have strike day because teachers never have time to teach kids because they’re always doing paperwork that the Government gives them.

Resourcing for additional needs?  Meaning kids that can’t control their behaviour end up breaking stuff because they don’t have someone to help them. They don’t have the help they should be getting in school.
When students have graduated from high school maybe their dream job is to be a teacher so they go online to check out the teachers job, but they find out that they don’t give much money to their bank account.

My partner and I agree that teachers need a little bit more things so they can interact more with their students. They need a better pay, more teaching time and needs more teachers so they can help students with how they act!
