Kawau Island/ Yr 6 Camp!

Walt: write a recount about a personal experience. Organise our ideas into a series of paragraphs.

On the 21st of November the year 6’s went to Kawau Island. Some parents came and helped organise camp. It was HILARIOUS and also FUN! My group was call Bentzon.

The first activity that my group did was Sailing and it was sooooo fun. Junior, Petesa, Grace and I went on a Sailboat alone and the others went together in doubles. Mr Goodwin called me “Captain Trendy”, the other activities that we did was Concorse, Burma, Abseiling. Those activities were FANTASTIC!

On our arrival at Kawau Island the first thing that we did was the boys did a little Haka. Then we got off the ferry and we took all the luggage on to the deck at Kawau Island. Then we grabbed our day bag and started to walk up the Killer Hill. We were all exhausted from doing the hike.

The 3 activities that we did last was Kayaking, Bivouac and Rafting. Bivouac was my favourite activity on that day but my actual favourite activity was Sailing because I was not only the best sailor but when I pulled the rope it made the boat go faster.

I would really like to thank all the helper’s and also to my aunty and uncle, the bus drivers, the ferry driver, Mr Burt and Peter & Erin. I would really like to thank Peter & Erin because they let Pt England go to Kawau Island.

I really enjoyed playing Spotlight because when we played Spotlight my uncle got Justice and then he heard me (i was up in a tree) but he never caught me and I couldn’t go to the deck in time because he was being very sneaky. I learnt that Abseiling isn’t that scary, all you have to do is relax because Jayden the guy that was holding you isn’t gonna let you go.

Task Description: We went to Kawau Island and had lots of fun. we came back and had to write about camp so when we grow older we will think about camp and we would wanna read about how fun camp was.

Term 4 Immersion Musical Madness!!!

WALT: use exciting language in a recount

Today we had an immersion assembly. We are learning to create our own music and instruments, we might learn how to play instruments too. Do you know how to play an instrument?

This team’s theme is Music Madness and it’s all about music, of course. All the teams did something for the theme and they all had music in it. My favourite team out of all the teams was Team 3. I liked their one because they did Songs in real life and it was funny in some parts and dramatic in others.

Team 4’s topic is about creating our own music. The teacher’s in Team 4 made a movie about pretending to do an apple ad, but instead they did a Pt England ad. They were in a vehicle, listening to different music tracks on the radio. In one part of the movie Mr Goodwin was being so DRAMATIC (some of the songs i didn’t know because they were old school songs).

I want to play the guitar and I hope we will be able to learn some other instruments that we don’t even know about. I want to make my own song and even maybe try to make my own instrument. I really hope we will be able to learn more about music because I LOVE music. I really hope we get to make our own movie about music as well.

Overall I like this terms theme better than the other theme’s this year because this theme is all about music. Music is like my favourite and I love school as well so combine school and music might be a fun term (or it might be a catastrophe). Do you want to do the same thing?

STARDOME!!! I HAD A TREMENDOUS TIME!!!

STARDOME

Last Thursday our class went to the Stardome in One Tree Hill. We got to play on the playground, learn about space from an expert, and even watch a crazy movie on the roof. Have you been to the stardome before?

We lined up in our groups waiting for the bus because we were about to go to Stardome. We had to go into groups even though we already had a group, our group was to big, so we had a leader that would take us around. My leader was KING RICHARD and yes he is a king (nahh he’s not) and in my group was Ana.T, Hinerangi, Monika, Leader Ayla, Leiite, Tisa, Lepa, then we were the first group to go in the bus and all the girls went at the back and off we go to Stardome.

When we got out of the bus, we lined up on the grass and waited for PRINCE GOODWIN to say walk quietly to the playground. We were the last to go and then when we got on the playground i started walking around with hine. Then i saw kayla and played slaptag with Jozlo, Kayla and Tupuia. Then PRINCE GOODWIN  told us to go inside stardome. We were the last to go inside and KING RICHARD saw cages and said “those cages are for bad children” then we went into a room and sat down.

When we sat down and waited for this man to tell us all about space, we just sat there bored. Then he was ready to talk, when he started talking i wasn’t tired at first until he took so long to say stuff it was tedious. It was interesting though then he gave KING RICHARD 2 pairs of paper on 2 clipboards and 2 pencils so he gave one to ayla and one to tisa and them 2 were leaders for girls and boys. We started a quiz and looked around in stardome place to find the answers, then we stopped and gave it back to KING RICHARD and lined up.

We lined up and waited to go in the dome. When we went inside the dome i looked and the roof was big i was contented. Then i walked with hine and sat down on the chair but the chairs were tilted so you can lay down. Then the movie started, and throughout the movie i felt tired but i never got to sleep. After the movie we looked at stars and saw heaps of stuff like a pegasus, the cross and a clock. Then we got up and got into our groups and walked to the bus, and the driver drove us back to school.   

Well i actually forgot what i learnt because our man had a really deep voice and i don’t remember

Task Description: we went to star dome last week and it was TREMENDOUS, i loved it so much but the best part about star dome was the dome because we got to relax and watch a movie.

Mars One Project!

Task Description: A mars one project is all about mas and stuff on mars for example on the mars one project it say's what kind of things are on  mars, are they dangerous to us?  will we survive if we lived there? and then i have to answer the question so people understand and they will know what's it like on mars.

My Own Astronaut

Task Description: we had to make up our own astronaut and draw our person on Pixelr Editor . this is Charm and he is actually 19 in real life, and i know because i didn't make him up but he would do so good if he joined the mission well not really.

OUR 2017 CROSS COUNTRY!!!

Walt: Structure a recount

On Friday the 1st of September (2017) we had our Cross Country running race. It was super hot, but dry as well. What did you come in Cross Country?

I was sitting down waiting nervously in the year 6 girls row. It was so hot that i was going to faint, it was like the sun wanted to kill me. After the year 5 girls ran around the Pt England Reserve Miss West came

and got us to run next. Now i was nervous than ever. Have you been so nervous before?

All the year 6 girls lined up in a straight line, on the field waiting for the clappers to ‘CLAP’. I could hear some of the girls say that they were nervous, and then Mr Burt slammed the clappers together and we started to race. We went running on the field near the village and out of the gate and on the Pt England Reserve. I was so muddy i was cold and hot at the same time. I was seriously running out of breath. Was your Cross Country like this?

I was just walking for a little while and then Nasibah came and runs up, so then I just ran past Nasibah and I have no idea what I came. I was so tired i just walked and grabbed me a little cup of water. I drank one and then i grabbed another one and then i went to Santana and Maria, they were drinking their cup of water and then i said “girls, girls you don’t drink the water you pour it on your head” and then i actually poured it on my head. We all started laughing so much.

I had such a fun and what i learnt was that you should never give up when you're running because you may think that you are going to lose but you won’t know until you try it. If i did Cross Country again and i would do something differently is i would try and keep running and sprinting until i get really tired.

Task Description: Guess what we had on Friday the 1st of September, we had Cross Country and if you don't know what Cross Country is then i will tell you. Cross Country is when your teachers or someone makes a course for you to run and finish the course. We had to write about our cross country and it was so fun. but it's to bad i didn't come 1st but i have no idea what i came but Jorelle came first in our year 6 girls and please check out her blog. My Picture Book Writing

It’s a wonderful day, but i’m getting bored, I have no where to play, so i am going to lord.

But I’m actually going to our solar system, where there’s a lot of wisdom. 5 4 3 2 1, off i go to the sun.

Mercury is closest to the sun, it’s a rocky world, but now i’m here let’s have some fun. Venus is the second planet closest to the sun, and by the way it’s the hottest one, but i shall go now, so off i go.

I’ve already been here so to the next planet!!! Off i go.

Mars is the fourth planet from the sun, OH NO THERE’S AN ALIEN NOW I SHALL RUN, oh wait he is a kind one, but i should go now, so off I go.

Jupiter is the fifth planet from the sun, Oh and it’s the largest one, but i can’t stand on it, so i should go, and off i go.

Saturn is the sixth planet from the sun, it has one big ring, and here’s the thing, that i should go now, so off i go.

Uranus is the seventh planet from the sun, and by the way it has 27 moons, oh look what i found it’s my spoons, but i should go, so off i go.

What an adventure i had, and none of them are good to live in, and i’m really glad of that, so no more looking for another planet to live on, because this is the right planet to live on.

Task Description: We were writing a picture book story about our solar system and then we would explain what things are in space. One person will be chosen to print out there's and give it to room 18, so they can read it.
