My Art Project With My Partner.......

This is my art project with my partner Naomi. We have done a project about Gender Inequality which is when another gender is higher than the other. In other ways of saying it, one gender gets treated better than the other gender which is highly unfair.

What & Why I Love Immersion Assemblies?

Te Wa Toi is a meaning of ‘Time For Art’. This term we are going to be learning about what artists think and feel about their art. Immersion assembly was different this term, usually Team 1 - 4 makes videos but instead they showed us on what they think of art?

Being eager to learn more, today immersion assembly really touched me, what I mean is that every single team expressed on how they see art. Every person has different thoughts and words about what art means? For example, Ms King thought that some paintings shown in some museums were weird. In her mind I think that she has a different meaning of what art could truly mean!

Why I love Immersion assemblies is because it’s hilarious, it’s satisfying and heaps of other reasons why but I can’t think of any. I love the fact that the teachers from each team shows and explains on what their team is going to be doing. What I like about Immersion assemblies, they explain what their learning in a way that gets us children hooked to listen more about.

Team 3…. Well I can’t even describe it because it was really crazy. Mrs Carruthers, Mrs Scanlan & Mr Moran were dressed into a white paint suit. At first I thought that they looked like the Ghost-busters, Ms King and Ms Eadie had pallets of paint with some paint brushes in their hands. Music played and the teachers started dancing while Ms Eadie and Ms King put some paint on Mrs Scanlan, Mrs Carruthers & Mr Moran rolled all over the big, white paper that was on the stage floor. The funniest part that I loved was when they showed us their art and started doing an auction and most of the kids put their hand up and it was SOLD!

Team 4 had a paint-off but instead all the teachers (except for Ms Parrant), painted. Ms Parrant had picked a volunteer which was Mr Moran, and he had to do poses for the teachers to paint. Once they were finished they showed their art and explained what their inspiration was. My favourite was Mrs Sio or Mr Wiseman because Mrs Sio looked just like Mr Moran and Mr Wiseman was a black hole to describe his mind.

4 reasons on why I love Immersion assemblies is because teachers don’t just explain what their doing but they also make videos or show kids what their doing, other reason is that it makes you laugh and thinking that you want to learn more about it. 3rd reasons sometimes teachers (including the principal), are dressed up into hilarious clothing that looks ridiculous on them. My last reason that I can think of is teachers do weird dances and make fun of themself but they don’t care what we think because their happy that they make us laugh.

LOUD T-SHIRT DAY TOMORROW!

Loud t-shirt day, what does that mean? If it's loud t-shirt day you can donate money to the poor deaf children out there. If you donate money they go to the deaf children so it'll help them to listen and speak. That's why its called a loud t-shirt day, so make sure to help all around the world even if it's someone you don't know because if you show kindness, kindness you shall receive. Don't forget to wear a bright t-shirt this month to help the children who can't hear or speak!

Te Wiki O Te Reo Maori!

Kia Ora! It's Maori language week. Today in assembly the Kapa Haka group sang for us and the boys did a Haka. They sang beautifully and softly, there was some harmony that you could hear and some melody's that you could hear. A new saying that Team 5 learnt was 'He Aroha Whakato, He Aroha Puta Mai' meaning 'If kindness is sown, then kindness you shall receive'. Why did we learn this saying? We learnt this saying so it can remind us to show kindness around the world and one day you will get it back, maybe not from the same person but from another..... maybe even God! 

Tongan Dance For Tongan Language Week!

Today is Friday and we had our school assembly. This week is Tongan language week if you didn't know that, the Tongan group performed for our whole school and there were amazing. 

Some people kind of mucked up but they all still kept smiling and kept going with the moves. Firstly some Tongan girls and boys said speeches in Tongan and they started playing a song and the girls started dancing. Their dancing was beautiful, their hand movements was smooth and gentle.

After the girls had finished their dance, the boys got on the stage and did their performance. Tevita was the leader for the Tongan boys and he lead the boys as Faioso and Kosini did the drums. 

The Tongan groups performance was amazing and i'm hoping to see more next year. Hear is some photos from the assembly!

Weekly Blog

This week I have been going to life education. Life education may sound boring to most people but to me it's really fun. I get to learn about what really makes you the person that you are right now and for me that's really special. I get to find out who i truly am and what kind of things do people think of me. On the first week we did this little personality test and I became a turtle. A turtle is someone who is patient, humble, hates arguing, loves being around people, takes their time on making discussions and so on. Life education is a good opportunity to find out who you really are. Well that's all from me I really hope that you will enjoy life education just like I did😁

What Have I Been Doing Lately????

Its the School Holidays and its been pretty boring. All I've been doing is cleaning up and watching my cousin's games. My cousin's name is Naomi and she plays for the East Auckland Storms. She's won her first game against Central and today she is going against West Storms, but unfortunately i couldn't go to support her so i have to wait until she comes back to here if she lost or won, but i'm really hoping that she wins so good luck to her. Well that's pretty much what I've been doing for the school holidays but i hope we get to do something fun next week.

It's very sad that your leaving us because i have had so much fun throughout these two terms with you and i really wish that you could stay just a little bit longer. I would like to say some stuff about you before you leave. You are one of the most funniest, best singer, nicest and most loving teacher that we all know. One of the most things that stands out about you is your singing, your singing is magnificent. Its like angels from the sky singing to everyone below them. You have a voice like an angel. I would like to say thank you for being one of our teachers for Team 5 and we all hope that you can come back one day and teach or just visit. From all of team 5 students and teachers we will miss you and love you always, God Bless You and have a good trip to Dubai.

My Highlight About Term 2!

This term has been amazing but its very sad that Mrs Sio has gone now, she will be coming back but she will be going to Team 4 in Room 6. I think my highlight for this term was TEAM BUILDING!!! I liked wait...... I LOVED team building because all the year 8's were gone and also we got to make Slime, Play games, Cook piklets, made our own banner, we got to make air planes and we got to play Minute to win it. What's even more better is that we have Mrs Tele'a now and she's really fun. I hope you enjoyed my opinion about what i liked most about this term.

This week in maths we have been learning about decimals. The girls have been on the floor solving questions that involve decimals but also Matua Don has been checking us out to see how we explain the problem, how we solved the problem and how we got the answer to the problem. In Reading we have been reading a book called 'Holes'. if it sounds familiar to you well that's because Holes is also a movie but the book was made before the movie. The book is all about Stanley and how Camp Green Lake goes out for him. He got bullied in his Middle School because of his size, he was an over weighted boy. He got sent to court because of his No-Good-Dirty-Rotten-Pig-Stealing-Great-Great-Grandfather. When it's writing, we do Wonder Writing. What is Wonder Writing? wonder writing is when the teacher shows us a picture and we have to make that picture come to life, well not actual come to life but we have to make up a story about it and use descriptive words to our story. Whoever has the most creative story gets a prize and to me I call those people 'Creative Imagination Thinkers' I only call them that because they have a mind that can think of anything and pretend that there doing those things write now. Their imagination is so creative that they could be famous when they grow up. That is what I've been learning and doing throughout this week. I hope you learn something.

On Matariki Day

On Friday last week we had Matariki. Before Matariki happened we had to pick what group that we wanted to be in. We had to pick in what order we wanted it to be in, the groups that we had to pick out of was of Cooking, Arts and Crafts, Movie Making and Sports. I was in room 18 doing arts and crafts. In arts and crafts we were weaving with paper. We had to pick some colours that Miss had cut out for us and start weaving them. When we finished the weaving we had to go to the next class and started colouring feathers. We had to write our name on one feather and then leave the other two just to colour it as many colours as we want. After we finished the feathers we had to lightly coat it with glitter glue. When it dried some of the older kids cut it out neatly and gave it to the teachers. The teachers stapled it to this coat thingy and showed it to the whole school. Then that's all I did when it was Matariki. I hope you enjoyed reading about what I did on Matariki.

Samoan Language Week!

Walt: What we have been doing for Samoan Language Week!

Talofa Lava, This week is Samoan Language Week and on that week we celebrate the samoan culture. We do this tradition for each culture and why do we do it? We celebrate each culture in our country because we love to see people that haven't came out of their shell and showed what their culture is all about. I have no other reasons about why we celebrate everyone's culture that is around NZ but i hoped you kinda learnt something.

Walt: What we have been learning throughout the week.

This week we have been doing the same old learning but i have learnt some things this week. We did our maths test today and i think that i did great. Throughout this week i haven't really learnt anything but i know that i have improved my reading and i'm glad that i have improved. That's pretty much it about my learning for this week.
