'I Like Your Latitude!'

WALT - Latitude and Longitude!

WOO HOO! It's only the first day and it's already going great. Our theme this term is 'I Like Your Latitude!'. What do you think this saying means? Today I will be telling you about the immersion assembly and what were my favourite parts!

Mr Goodwin got the teachers LOST! Team 4's movie was hilarious, their movie was about how to navigate your way around the continent/s. All the teachers in Team 4 (except Mr Goodwin) had to complete a quest. Their quest was to find a way to get to school by using the olden day style, using only a map and a compass. They had their little arguments but in the end they finally all agreed to go one way and found their way to school. The teachers were very upset at Mr Goodwin so they told him to find his own way home without using Google Maps or a GPS. Mr Goodwin just sat there alone....

The Magic Button..... Team 5 did a real life act. Their idea was all about, Where in the  latitude and longitude are you? Ms Tapuke was the main character, she used her 'Magic Button' to go around the world. She traveled to North America, Asia, Africa, Europe and in every country she went to, she met someone. She would always ask them "Where in the Longitude and Latitude are we?". The answer would always be numbers and degrees so my team (Team 5) will be learning about how to read and find out what longitude and latitude means!

This immersion assembly has been a BLAST! All of the Teams did such great videos and performances. Our whole school will be learning about Latitude and longitude but we will be learning about them in our own different ways. Team 1 - The Bee's, Team 2 - Easter Hunt, Team 3 - Pick A Path, Team 4 - Navigating, and last of all Team 5 - 'Where in the longitude and latitude are you! I hope all of us students at Pt England learn something new about our theme.
